Overview
Public Health Dentistry is a cornerstone of community-focused dental education and service at Subbaiah Institute of Dental Sciences (SIDS). This department is dedicated to improving oral health through education, prevention, and treatment strategies tailored to meet the needs of the underserved and rural populations. SIDS's public health initiatives align with its mission to create awareness about oral hygiene, deliver preventive care, and provide comprehensive dental services. Primary Health Centers (PHCs) Involvement The institute extends its services to two Primary Health Centers (PHCs): Mydololu PHC: This center serves as a hub for community-based oral health programs. Regular dental camps are organized to provide screening, education, and basic dental treatments to the local population. Donabagatta PHC: In collaboration with this PHC, the department focuses on delivering accessible dental care, with special attention to oral health awareness campaigns and preventive measures. Through these partnerships, the institute ensures that essential dental services reach remote and underserved areas. Village Adaptation: Komminal As part of its community outreach program, SIDS has adopted Komminal village to enhance oral healthcare delivery at the grassroots level. The adaptation program involves: Conducting regular oral health education sessions. Implementing preventive measures like fluoride application and oral hygiene kits distribution. Establishing a sustainable oral health surveillance system for the village population. This initiative exemplifies SIDS’s commitment to addressing the unique challenges faced by rural communities. School Adoption Programs The department has adopted two schools as part of its preventive dentistry agenda: These school programs aim to instill lifelong oral health practices among students, benefiting both individuals and the broader community.
